Following on with our series of interviews with the team behind Aspen, we spoke to Warehouse Manager Sean Kiley about what led him to working at Aspen and what he enjoys about the job!
I came to Scotland from New Jersey, USA many, many years ago and settled in quite quickly. Before starting at Aspen I worked a few retail jobs after university. I eventually ended up working with Apple where I met John Clark (a fellow Aspen teammate!) When John left Apple to join Aspen Solutions, we still kept in touch. Some time later, the opportunity came for me to join him at Aspen and I was absolutely delighted!
I’ve now been with Aspen for 5 years as Warehouse Manager. What I love about the job is the variety of orders, it always keeps you switched on and excited about the work day. Our service is tailored to our customers, which means we build solid relationships with clients over many years. Finally, the flexibility of our management team helps us so much – especially during lockdown. It makes such a difference to have a team that recognises your life outside of work. I’m married with two kids – so the flexibility certainly means that my work/life balance is much better!
There have been some challenges in the past year or so. Mainly to do with Brexit and the extra paperwork/shipping terms that we need to work around. However, the team have all rallied together to help each other and to ensure the customers are always looked after. That support is why Aspen is such a great team to be a part of!
More recently, we have 2 new apprentices in the company, Jack & Kane. It’s been great introducing them to our systems and processes and showing them how Aspen are different to other IT companies. The extra hands will be a big help for me moving forward – and it’s good to bring in young people looking to get a start in the industry.
We hope you’re enjoying getting to know some of our team a little bit better and finding out what it’s like to be a part of Aspen Solutions. Have a look at our blog to find more of our team interviews and keep up to date on our LinkedIn and Twitter too!
