The Product – What is it and how does it work?
Aspen provide a “Green IT Box” which is essentially a recycling service for all IT equipment such as:
- Fax Machines
- Hard Drives
- Servers
- Desktops
- Laptops
- Display Units
- Routers / Switches
- Cables
- Laptop Batteries
- AC Adapters
- Printers
- IT Accessories
- Keyboards / Mice
- PDAs
There are strict guidelines and legislation set out by the government regarding the disposal of IT equipment such as the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Environmental Act’s “Duty of Care” requirements, the Green IT box company ensures that these are fulled adhered to.
What happens to my equipment?
When purchasing a Green IT box your equipment will go through the following procedure:
Depollution:
Depollution is the processes were the goods are broken down and the hazardous and dangerous materials and components are treated separately in accordance with the Annex II of the WEEE directive.
Shredding:
The shredder used is a powerful Rotary four shaft, that’s large enough to process any IT equipment no matter the size, reducing the equipment to as small as 25mm and can process up to 80tons of equipment per day.
Separation:
After the shredding process all the fragments are moved through a separation process that collects metal particles passing through an eddy current separator, splitting up the plastics from the non-ferrous materials in to two defined streams.
Reprocessing:
The reprocessors then reconstitute the fragments into reusable raw materials - achieving a non landfill environmentally friendly solution.
Collection of your Box
Once you have filled your box, all you need to to is call and the Green IT box company will organise for your box to be collected!
